Bear is the one that tied the little bows on her shoes -> mostly bc i have the really cute image of him kneeling to tie them all agitated, but also bc their friendship is so very important to me and i genuinely think he would be the most protective over the change Bear, standing back and crossing his arms: If anybody gives you trouble over this, let me know. I'll take care of it Nat, looking up from her shoes: Oh- you don't have to do that, Bear- *Bear stare* Nat: ....okay

i don't think any of them would be transphobic, like- they would def accept her right away no questions- but i do think they would have a bit of an adjustment period after she comes out *After Nat's reveal* Eddie: Oh- sweet. Do you have a different name you want us to call you? Nat: I think I wanna go by Nat- to keep it simple, you know? *Everybody nods, like they expected this* Katie: That checks out Bear: Yep, pretty average name change

Hello awesome people!!! I thought it would be fun to put an info dump about my Yo-Kai Watch Next Gen/ Future AU here, so that is exactly what I’m doing!!!

Basically, this post will explain character relationships, careers, and parenting!!

Characters we’re focusing on are - Nate, Buck, Hailey, Katie, Eddie, and Bear!! Yay!!!!!

Anyway, let’s get into it!!

YO-KAI WATCH AU INFO DUMP

RELATIONSHIPS

Nate and Buck - Got together after high school, although Buck had known his own feelings long before then, getting married at 23.

Katie and Eddie - Got together towards the end of high school, getting married at 22.

Bear and OC - SPLIT (maybe I’ll make a post explaining this OC eventually. 🌝)!!! Dated in their 20’s but OC left without a word after having their son. Oopsie!!!!

Now, there’s also some past relationships that are worth mentioning!!! I’ve planned out these characters entire lives because I am so KIND, OKAY!!!!! This will only be a little recap..

Nate and Katie - Dated briefly in high school, with a.. relatively messy break up due to Nate’s, at the time, obsessive nature. With time, though, they got past it. They’re best friends, even!!!

Eddie and Shelly - An extremely brief HS relationship.. Only got together because classmates said they’d be a cute couple. They broke up amicably, but didn’t keep in touch afterwards.

Hailey - IT’S COMPLICATED!! She’s had healthy relationships throughout her life, ending due to different paths. Her eyes were always set on Jessica Stonewood, who ended up getting married before she could confess her feelings. They remain good friends, even if Jessica never knows this. Don’t worry, Hailey.. YOU’LL GET YOUR ROMANCE!!!!

EDUCATION AND CAREERS

Nate - Nate’s first job was in HS at his local Everymart. It was a convenient job that worked well enough. His favorite memories were made with his coworker, Maya. Around a year after graduating high school, he quit to focus on college. At first, he thought his calling was social work. I decided this due to the events of Shadowside, though it’s not canon to my AU (obviously). I kept the element that Nate lost his ability to see yo-kai for story telling, which left him with a desire to help, help the way he’d help his yo-kai friends.. This is what pushed him towards the job, but when he finally got into it, he realized he HATED IT!!! Still, that desire wasn’t gone, and that’s when he thought being a teacher may have been his true calling, going back to college yet again. Luckily, he was right, teaching at his former elementary school. Yay for Nate, his students make his days oh so fun!!!

Buck - Since he was a child, Buck had big dreams about his future. He wanted to do something adventurous, full of risks. His father, however, thought those ideas were ridiculous. He demanded Buck major in business, get a better grasp of it to keep their family name associated with wealth. Elizabeth agreed, thinking it would give her son a good life.. So, he gave in for her— On the condition that he could go to college in Springdale (i wonder why). Even with that plus, Buck still found himself feeling miserable due to his classes. It wasn’t what he wanted to do with his life, he knew that from the beginning. Nate could see this as well, and encouraged him to follow his dreams, no matter how ridiculous they sounded to others. Thus, Buck put in the work to become an adventure guide. Hooray!!!!

Hailey - Hailey was interested in so many things, she wasn’t sure what path to take. At first, she tried to take them all, because of course she did. She balanced part time jobs at Maid in Heaven, Anime Chum, and a cat café, along with college. When it came to college, she started out more invested in the social aspect— Joining any club she thought sounded fun. One day, something changed, though. She spent this entire day helping Joshua find out who’d been leaving him love letters in his locker, and this made her think.. think about the fact she felt like she’d done this stuff before.. Mystery solving stuff.. Detective stuff… And detectives were pretty cool. Immediately, she threw herself at criminology, eventually deciding to become an independent criminal investigator, rather than work with a department. Hailey you are so awesome!!!!

Katie - I imagine Katie to be quite the perfectionist, always focused on getting good grades and doing her best. She tended to push herself. As a result, she was an extremely busy student. Katie tried out many different classes, was the president of multiple clubs, and really focused on the learning aspect of it all, rather than thinking of a definitive career path. Her thoughts when it came to work were that she wanted a job that would align with the future she already imagined for herself. It had to be flexible, convenient, and pay enough for her to live comfortably. Her life would not revolve around it, either. In the end, she settled on an office job that her father helped her get. It may be simple, but it’s perfect for the lifestyle she wishes to live. You are so smart Katie!!!!

Eddie - Being the tech geek he is, it was a no brainer for Eddie to select the classes he did, focusing on robotics courses and coding. He excelled, relishing in this time. When it was over, though.. He felt a bit lost. What could he do with his skillset? To his surprise, he only found himself dealing with one rejection after another while job hunting. His father wasn’t of much help, either. For a bit of cash, he’d take commissions to assemble and paint people’s model kits for them, but that wasn’t enough. Then, he finally managed to land a remote coding job. He saw this as temporary, until having his first child. He realized it was perfect.. It was permanent. A job that allowed him to always be around, unlike his own parents. Eddie you are great!!

Bear - I think Bear is a sweetheart.. a big softie in spite of his appearance. He discovered through a friend he made in high school (Dylan) that he enjoyed activities like baking and knitting. It’s something he’s good at. He was also fond of animals, managing to secretly work once a week at a pet store at 15. His father disapproved of his interests, finding them to be far too feminine. He wanted Bear to follow in his footsteps, and with this behavior, it didn’t seem likely. So, he sent him off to boarding school. He thought it would set him straight. Bear still held onto his dreams, and he missed working at that pet store.. But he knew his dad wouldn’t approve of any of it, that’s why he sent him away. So, he got right into helping his dad with construction after graduating. Carpentry didn’t bring him any sense of joy, and working under his dad didn’t make him as much money as he could have under other conditions. He swore he’d get another job, he’d march back into that pet store, he’d save up to open his own bakery, he’d do.. Something. But then he had his son, and that’s when he finally gave up. There wouldn’t be enough time for that anymore, his money had to go towards taking care of the baby.. and with the mother of his child out of the picture, that didn’t make things any easier. BEAR I AM SO SORRY!!!! I LOVE YOU, MAN…

FAMILIES AND PARENTING

Buck and Nate have one child: Lilith

Buck is definitely a fun girl dad, though assertive when needed.. I mean, Buck’s super energetic in game— But, we’ve seen him get a little- snappy, for lack of a better word, during serious moments. He loves seeing his daughter smile, and is always looking for something fun to do with her. With friends he tends to ramble about what a great kid he has. He wants to give his family the world, and he’s trying to. You’re doing great Buck!!!!

Nate is a very affectionate father. He tends to get told becoming a parent changed him (for the better). He really does love his daughter more than life itself, and can be in denial (a trait we’ve seen him have in the anime) about her bad behaviors as a result. So, he’s usually the one to get walked all over— the one Lilith goes to get what she wants, and it works every time. Also.. he’s a bit of a hover parent, due to how obsessive we’ve seen he can be… It’s okay Nate!!! Your family adores you, and so do we!!!!

Katie and Eddie have two children: Annie and Kenny

Katie is a very composed mother. Since she’s blunt, she prioritizes raising her kids to speak their mind. Also, we’ve seen she could be hard on herself as a kid, but her mother assured her it was okay not to do perfect— She’s sure to tell her kids the same. She’s always trying to push them towards success. You are very good Katie!!!

Eddie tries a bit too hard to be involved with his kids, since his own parents were always busy at work. He works his remote job to take on the role of a stay at home husband.. he’s not very good at it, though. He’ll drop anything for them, even if they just want to play a game with him… Also, he embarrasses them often due to his geeky nature. They love you anyway Eddie!!

Hailey has one child: Serenity

Hailey does all that she can for her daughter to have the best future. She’s more responsible than people think she is when it comes to being a parent. Even so, her daughter still sees her as her best friend. Hailey always stays true to herself, and encourages her child to do the same. They tend to spend a lot of time together.. Binge watching shows, playing video games, or even listen to each others rambles about their favorite characters. HAILEY YOU ARE THE BEST MOM EVER TRUST!!!

Bear has one child: Barnaby jr.

Bear tries to be a gentle parent, but is more of an.. enabling parent. He doesn’t want to treat his son the way his father treated him— Even the thought alone has been the result of countless nightmares. He can’t imagine life without his son, though sometimes he gets depressed over the fact he can’t give him a better life. He’s certain his kid is destined for something great, and wants to be the most supportive parent he can be. Oh bear!!! you try so hard!!!! you’re great..

AND THAT IS IT FOR TODAYS INFO DUMP!!!! I’m sure you can tell that I take yo-kai watch very seriously!!! AND I’LL CONTINUE TO, ACTUALLY!!!

This was such a great moment from the anime that really showed that all of them are friends even if they joke about Nate being ordinary and that they enjoy being his friend.

Kinda wish the anime had a lot more of these moments, especially later on...
